The history of Hâttric

The Hâttric brand was launched in 1963 by the company Olivin and has an illustrious history. In 1963 the former manager of Olivin, Mr Jenquel, discovered a special poem in a novel by David Walker.

Hence the name Hâttric for – as transpired later on – a successful line of skin-care products for men. The romance of the poem is evident in the intrinsic value of the products. Here, this is translated into the attractiveness of a well-groomed man.

1965

Shortly after the first Hâttric after shave was produced and launched in the 1960s, it soon became clear that this aftershave was here to stay. The brand grew, as did the interest in the brand. This meant that heroes, such as the German professional footballer Uwe Seeler – who played from 1953 to 1972 as a striker for Hamburger SV and played for the national team of Germany 72 times – could easily be linked to the Hâttric brand. Back then, Seeler had a role in a Hâttric TV commercial. In the commercial, after shaving in the morning, the famous footballer applied the aftershave to his face whilst whistling cheerfully.
